Your Donation Matters

One-Time Donations

Your donation allows A Helping Hand to innovate, expand and increase services that would not be possible through our daily operations alone.  Your partnership and support elevate the quality of life across generations throughout the North Carolina Triangle.

Monthly Giving Options

Please consider designating your gift to one of our Annual Priorities below, or simply make an unrestricted gift that we may use wherever the need is greatest at the time. Our community needs you, and we're grateful for your help.

Provide a Ride for Medical Transport

Door-to-door medical transportation is the most requested service in our Charitable Companion Care Program. Our companions meet participants at their home, stay with them at the facility and take notes, then bring them home and get them settled. Many of these appointments are outpatient surgeries, and sometimes there are not enough volunteers for the demand.

A recurring donation of $10 a month – the same cost as a cup of coffee – would provide an older adult with three, life-sustaining trips to a medical appointment.  Consider a one-time donation of $75 for one ride.

Join Our Givers Circle

There are many instances for giving during the winter holidays – but our participants need your support in all seasons. Considering joining our Givers Circle. Members establish a recurring donation of $30 a month – $1 a day – that comes directly out of your bank account. For the cost of a sandwich, you could provide an older adult with a lunch out with their companion and the invaluable joy of social connection.

Sponsor a Pre-Health Intern

Our Pre-Health Service Learning Internship Program actively prepares Pre-Health students for their careers in a more ethical medical industry – you could be investing in one of your future doctors!

A recurring donation of $50 a month – around the cost of a nice meal at a restaurant – would provide a student with a semester of service in our unique program. A gift to our internship program expands the number of students we can teach and also provides more service to our participants.

Individual Retirement Accounts

Retirement plan assets (those in qualified plans and IRAs) are ideal for charitable giving purposes because these assets are often heavily taxed when passed to non-spouse beneficiaries. To make a future gift of retirement plan assets simply requires a designation of A Helping Hand as the beneficiary of the plan.

Stocks

Shares of appreciated publicly traded stock are an effective way to support A Helping Hand and avoid taxation on the gain. We can receive stock gifts directly through your brokerage account; you receive a charitable income tax deduction, usually equivalent to fair market value as determined under IRS guidelines. We will sell the stock immediately and apply the net proceeds toward our mission.

Matching Gifts

Many employers have a Matching Gifts program where the employer will match any gift made by the employee. A Helping Hand actively participates in the North Carolina State Employee Matching Campaign, and other Federal and private employers. Check with your Human Resources Department for more information about your company's matching gift policy.

Bequest by Will

Including a charitable bequest in your will is a simple way to make a lasting gift to A Helping Hand and your community. You can leave a bequest to A Helping Hand by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one – make a gift of a stated dollar amount, specific property, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after distributions to other beneficiaries.

Online Shopping

AmazonSmile, an Amazon.com project, graciously donates 0.5% of your AmazonSmile purchase to A Helping Hand! Be sure to start your Amazon purchases at smile.amazon.com and select “A Helping Hand, Inc.” as your favorite charity.
