Donations allow A Helping Hand to innovate, expand and increase service in ways that would not be possible through daily operations alone. Your partnership and support elevate the quality of life across generations and throughout the North Carolina Triangle. Please consider designating your gift to one of our Annual Priorities below, or simply make an unrestricted gift that we may use wherever the need is greatest at the time. Our community needs you, and we're grateful for your help.

Provide a Ride for Medical Transport

Door-to-door medical transportation is the most requested service in our Charitable Companion Care Program. Our companions meet participants at their home, stay with them at the facility and take notes, then bring them home and get them settled. Many of these appointments are outpatient surgeries, and sometimes there are not enough volunteers for the demand.
Consider donating your time and driving an older adult to their medical appointment, or make a financial donation for medical transportation. A recurring donation of $10 a month – the same cost as coffee with a friend – would bring an older adult to their Physical Therapy appointments for a year.

Sponsor a Pre-Health Intern

Our Pre-Health Service Learning Internship Program actively prepares Pre-Health students for their careers in a more ethical medical industry – you could be investing in one of your future doctors! A one-time donation of $100 would provide a student with a semester of service in our unique program. A gift to our internship program expands the number of students we can teach and also provides more service to our participants. Your semester or annual sponsorship can be incorporated into your legacy or in memory gift.

The Show of Hands Club

There are many instances for giving during the winter holidays – but our participants need your support in all seasons. Considering joining our Show of Hands Club. Members establish a recurring donation of $7 a month – $1 for each day of a week – that comes directly out of your bank account. You determine the withdrawal date that works for you and show up for the community regardless of the season. For the cost of a sandwich, you could provide an older adult with a lunch out with their companion and the invaluable joy of social connection.
