Charitable Program
Our nonprofit organization serves people of all income levels. Those who are unable to afford the private pay program can apply to be served through our charitable program. Priority is given to those who need to access healthcare, get groceries or need medication reminders.
Clients in the charitable program are eligible to receive two to three hours per week assistance, subject to volunteer availability. Grants and contributions also support those who receive services through this program.
Teams of volunteers from civic organizations, faith communities and campus clubs participate in the program by providing a morning of assistance with housework or yard work. There is no charge to the care recipient for these services.
A Helping Hand’s community outreach is at its peak during the organization’s annual Valentine Delivery and Serenade. All of our clients in both the private pay and charitable program receive hand-crafted valentines and a single red rose. If the volunteer has vocal talents, there is the added gift of a serenade.
Last year 30 percent of our clients received assistance through the charitable program because of generous donors and volunteers. A Helping Hand allocated 94.5 percent of its revenue to program services.
